On October 19, 2026, thanks to the efforts of the customer and local partners, Woojeon Metal, a foundry in South Korea, has finished the upgrade of its RFD45 sand cooler and put it into operation. Before retrofit, the temperature of reclaimed sand at the cooler inlet was up to 176.4℃. Hot sand fed directly into the muller would cause unstable sand temperature and easily lead to casting defects such as blowholes and scabs, troubling production for a long time.
This retrofit optimized the heat exchange structure, fluidization air distribution system and automatic water adding & temperature control module. Field measurement after commissioning shows the outlet sand temperature is stably reduced to 40.0℃ with excellent cooling performance. Stable sand temperature improves consistency of molding sand properties, greatly cuts casting defect risks, and lowers energy consumption and routine maintenance work.
